Touch the Sky is a new tactile tour of the Museum of Flight‘s artifacts for visitors with low or no vision. The first tour, 9:30–11 AM, Sunday Sept 17th, is all about engines. Participants will put on gloves to actually touch and investigate the MG 15 powered by a roaring jet engine and compare it to the classic Pratt & Whitney Wasp Junior propeller radial engine. Participants will have the opportunity to climb into the cockpit of the Museum’s Cirrus SR20 and interact with the controls like a pilot.
This accessible tour is free of charge to visitors with low or no vision. To ensure a quality experience, the tour is capped at 8 participants. Touch the Sky is a recurring tour currently scheduled for every other month. It will eventually transition to a monthly event. After Sept. 17th, the next tour is scheduled for Saturday, November 18th.
